Description Complete a 15-minute role play with someone playing the client and you as the practitioner. Via the role play demonstrate the following stages of a session: Evaluating the goals Evaluating progress Ending your work together In considering the therapy process, think of a beginning, a middle, and an end, each with main areas of focus/tasks to accomplish. Think process and what takes place at each stage and highlight the examples in your demonstration. Built upon a solid foundation of relationship, moving forward toward goals and then termination. Evaluating the goals – Identifying the nature of the presenting problem, what kind of change is sought? The practitioner role should be more helping the client articulate than in pronouncing for them. Seeing problem in context to the client’s larger world. Keeping an eye on strengths and resources. Well identified goals help create a roadmap and means to evaluate. Goals may change, evolve as therapy progresses. Identify where the client is in the process according to the Stages of Change, then evaluate their progress or lack of progress from one stage to the other. Plan to review progress, create closure in client practitioner/relationship and plan for future. Be mindful to avoid fostering dependency. This assignment will include a 25-minute Zoom presentation; therefore, you will need to have the mock client complete a volunteer consent form. Following a 15-minute interview with your client covering the above areas, you will provide a 10-minute critique of your interview discussing your strengths and weaknesses and your plan for areas of improvement in the future.
