These both can be connected but sometimes and different situations can be conflicted. So, a social work student should consider the characteristics of ethical leadership and the difficulties and the way it is connected with practicing it and explain what it means to be an ethical leader, and describe the difficulties of being an ethical leader. The ethical leadership definition that relates to the social work profession would be an individual with the proper principle who utilizes guidance and influences others by doing the right thing and in the right ways (Northouse, 2021). An ethical leader in social work, the profession is demanded to have values that fulfill the NASW Code of Ethical Values such as by being honest and having actions of doing them in only the right ways. Explain what it means to be an ethical leader and describe the challenges of being an ethical leader. An ethical leader means that they must have the ability to focus on their followers which means to have the capability of assisting their clients with their interest rather than their own and only acting the way that would have a profit of others (Northouse, 2021). Some other different ways that an ethical leader displays by treating everyone equally and keeping professionalism all the time, staying a good example for followers to follow. One challenge that can be accountable when being an ethical leader is to not let personal views and values negatively influence the ability to serve their clients or staff.
