Description Part 1 At some point during your professional or personal life, you’ve probably planned an event. This may have been a birthday party, graduation, or a training or introduction to a new system or process at work. Program and curriculum planning uses similar methods and processes. Discuss a professional or personal event/program where you were the Planner. Describe the approach to planning you took, explain whether it was closer to the Convention/Traditional approach or to the Pragmatic/Practical Approach. What do you think worked well with the event and why? What parts could you have improved? Part 2 Trnasformational theory is the theory to discuss. Explain how your chosen theory or content area could inform a class you are designing on balancing work and school of adult learners. Create a simple lesson plan for this class using your chosen theory or content area. Part 3 The 3 assumptions Discerning the context, understanding the organization, resources available.  If you could only use three (3) of these assumptions to build a program or curriculum, which would you choose and why? How do the choices reflect your strengths as a program planner? Part 4 the Service-Learning Program Planning Model. Compare and contrast this model with the Interactive Model. Describe the main similarities and differences between the two (2) models. Propose your own service learning program to teach adult learners on a topic of your choice. Provide a brief description of the program components and outcomes. Part 5 After the recent conflict between faculty and transgender students regarding the restrooms in one (1) of the main academic buildings, as the new program director at Free People University, you have been tasked with developing a program to support transgender students on campus. In four (4) weeks, you are scheduled to present to the director of student activities and her team of program coordinators your plan and budget request for the program. You have heard from program coordinators in her office that while she is generally in support of a program for transgender students, she believes there are not enough transgender students currently on campus to justify such a program. She thinks that the money could be better spent on new computers for the African-American cultural center. You have four (4) weeks to gain support for the program. What’s your plan? Part 6 Indicate which of the two (2) scenarios from the Assignments Overview you have chosen as your mission. In this first assignment, you will lay the groundwork for your program design. (see wk 3 attachments for all readings for the week)   Write a three to five (3-5) page paper in which you: Discuss three (3) factors that led you to choose your scenario (e.g., professional experience, personal experience, future career goals). Find and review three (3) articles on adult learners. Explain how you will use what you learned from these articles to develop your program Discuss two (2) methods that you will employ to create support for your program from internal or external stakeholders. Complete a Needs Analysis for your program. Note: You may use Exhibit 6B “Elements of a Formally Structured Needs Assessment” as a model in creating your Needs Analysis. Use at least four (4) quality peer-reviewed academic resources written within the past five (5) years. Note: Wikipedia and other similar websites do not qualify as academic resources. Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements: Typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides. Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length. Include a reference page. Citations and references must follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length. Create instructional activities to meet at least three (3) of the learning objectives you created. (Factors to be considered when creating instructional activities can be found in Exhibit 8D. Examples of instructional activities can be found in Exhibit 8E.) Explain how you will measure/assess your chosen instructional activities’ effectiveness in meeting your chosen learning objectives. Discuss why you selected those assessment techniques. (Exhibit 8I provides examples of assessment techniques.) Describe what you learned about designing programs from this assignment in one (1) page. Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements: Typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
