DESIREE WALDEN 1/30/20, 8:53 PM The Strategic management process is key to the leadership of a company because it provides the scope and direction to help drive success for the organization. A major part of this success is being able to effectively manage change with people and processes. The leadership aspect of this process would be to create an environment that is receptive to change. My organization requires employees to come up with three ways to improve processes a year. It is a good way to encourage innovation, reduce cycle time, and reduce cost. Strategic leadership occurs in three key places within an organization; at the top where business unit strategy and goals are created, in the middle where top-down strategy is translated into a business unit or regional strategy, and at the department level where the business unit strategy goals are translated into a number of individual objectives which are executed. I have been a manager in various types of departments and how you benefit that department can be different in many ways. Being a leader can impact change and process to gain buy in on how things are done. It’s one thing to manage people but it is another thing to lead them towards success. Creating a plan that can positively impact an organization and lead your team towards following that plan successfully is what differs from just being a manager.
