Replies to two others students commenting on their post’. Rachel Baker: Alan Greenspan reacted in a way I think most humans do. We do not want to see fault in ourselves because we want to always be doing the right thing. In our eyes, we are doing what is best for ourselves and sometimes what we think is best for others. It is easier to blame others for the failure of something especially if the outcome of the situation is severe enough. Some people cannot handle self criticism and can potentially go into a downward spiral and lose control. Alan likes control. I have seen self serving bias in my workplace when it comes to executing a project that requires teamwork. We all have a piece of the pie we must get done and others put blame on the other because they couldn’t do their part without someone else finishing up first. Instead of offering to help, we blame them for not completing the task on the deadline. In some cases it is true, but in others instead of reaching out and asking for an update, or a friendly reminder, we let it sit and we let them fail to make ourselves look better.ERMALI
