Why or why not?     The Jiminy Peak Resort Management and Employees are responsible stewards of Massachusetts’ natural resources. Massachusetts’ beauty and health are an integral part of our business. We live here, so working to maintain it comes naturally.Jiminy could continue with the wind turbine installation: turbines seem to be more long-lasting than other energy sources. Using wind to generate electricity has fewer environmental consequences than any other energy source. Wind turbines also seem not to emit pollutants into the air or water and do not require water for cooling in the U.S. The wind turbine’s electricity can save somewhere between 2.3 million kWh annually. Even though the turbine may help the resort become more energy-efficient, the public may not be too happy. The proposed turbine was predicted to be larger than the Statue of Liberty (MacArthur & Barton, 2012).It looks like the SED team has established that on the west shoulder of Jiminy Peak, there will be enough wind on the west shoulder to use a wind turbine effectively.What should be the most important considerations of Jiminy Peak when making this decision?The resort did not have enough money to pay out of pocket, so a loan was necessary. No one could predict the future, so seeing if the profit money would come back around was unknown. However, once the loan was fully paid, the resort could constantly bring in funds from those purchasing the excess electricity. The most important considerations of Jiminy Peak when making this decision came from the community and the financial risk that they placed on themselves. It would take years for Fairbanks and Jiminy Peak to pay back the loan they would have to take out.The community was also not too sure about the installation of the turbine as it could have taken away from the beauty of the mountain. A large turbine would stand above all the trees that would have typically not been there. The hill was natural, and this had become a big concern for the community. Even though there were many obstacles to creating the turbine, Jiminy Peaks should continue with the build of the wind turbine. Installation of turbines is a closed-loop production and a sustainable decision and it can have significant cost-saving implications. Businesses can benefit from significant cost savings when they use eco-friendly means of production (Hartman, DesJardins and MacDonald 337). In the case of Jiminy Peak, the company is can reduce its energy consumption by 2 million kWh per year, translating to significant cost savings. It will also increase its annual revenue by $150,000 through the sale of excess power. Although the initial cost of investment will be high, the wind turbines will lead to significant cost savings.Installation of wind turbines can also offer Jiminy Peak a competitive advantage. sustainability allows companies to be more competitive while serving environmentally conscious clients. Such organizations attract more customers who like to be associated with progressive companies (Hartman, DesJardins and MacDonald 337). Currently, Jiminy Peak is an attractive ski destination for many people since it has extensive attractions and is conveniently located. Increasing its sustainability will help to attract more customers.Jiminy Peak is bound to benefit immensely when it installs the wind turbine. The project is likely to face a lot of opposition from the community since the installation may have some negative impacts on nature and animals. Aesthetic and inspirational values always dominate public debates on economic developments y (MacArthur and Barton 326). A possible disruptive activity in this project is the movement of construction materials. this will disrupt traffic and the beautiful scenery around this area. Jiminy Peak will have to navigate through these problems and provide solutions for the project to succeed.The primary consideration for Jiminy Peak when making this decision would be cradle-to-cradle responsibilities. This would involve outlining how it will dispose of the wind turbine when it surpasses its life cycle. The machine the company intends to install has a life expectancy of 25 years. The company needs to determine how the machine will be used productively when it outlives its purpose.
