Description We have learned that leadership is not limited to businesses. Parents, relatives, students, friends, neighbors, and volunteers represent a small example of those who lead. You may find that there is a person, or group, that looks to you for direction, or as a role model. This makes you a leader. On the other hand, you may be actively pursuing a position of leadership within your workplace. Either way, with your viewpoint, take the Self-Assessment in the Casse (2014) New Drivers of Leadership) (Links to an external site.) reading. Present your results in the discussion this week, along with the following: Describe how you understand yourself through the strongest drivers and weakest drivers (highest and lowest scores) Think of one challenge, past or present (personally or professionally) and diagnose your ability to resolve the challenge through the drivers. Respond to the original post of at least 2 of your peers using the 4-Point Response Guide: What did you find most important in the post? What was something you agree with in the post? What was something you do not agree within the post? What was something you found interesting or confusing in the post? I have a tie for my strongest driver, Focus and Challenge. I have been a stay at home mom for over 8 years, my household can be wild to clam in ways that i have taught myself and learned on the way. I see why my strongest would be these drivers, because I have to prioritize things in order to complete them to make everyone happy. I am challenged everyday whether it be the wrong snack for one kid and the wrong pair of socks for another. I have to keep my head straight for them. My weakest driver is Energy. I am a hot mess by the end of the day. From waking up and having breakfast ready for my boyfriend before work. Get kids up and dressed for school. I drive to school, come home and take care of my schooling. Run a few errands, pick up younger ones from school and go to a park. Let my 5 year old run off energy I do not have. Pick up older ones from school, drive home and make dinner, shower times. We all sit down to watch a movie or tv show, then it’s bedtime. Up doing it all again the next day. I honestly have no energy to keep up. My most recent challenge I have faced has been our move to Colorado. We packed up and left. By being vulnerable to new surrounding and putting my kids into a new school. Looking into housing because our camper could do so much. And dealing with the everyday life was at times too much. I wanted to crawl under a rock. Until one day i was at my end and ready to throw in the towel. I stopped and thought. I have been through all of this. I could not let my children down, myself down, and my boyfriend down. I did not realize I was using my energy driver to cope and deal with today’s conditions. I was using focus driver on what is important to me at that moment. I was using speed driver to think and over come things quickly. And I was using challenge driver everyday because being in a new environment had me lost and I was able to find my way out. I am so grateful for the people I have found on the way to my present time. Everybody’s life is different and we see things in different ways. This is my way of understanding this week’s lesson. Thank you for taking your time to read my part of the discussion.2- FlorenceHello everyone,I am not a fan of people who distract others unnecessary from completing a task! Before taking Casse (2014) New Drivers of Leadership) Self-Assessment my ‘driver’ was focusing, until I calculated my scores and realized that was the second highest on the list. The highest driver was Speed, followed by Focus, then Challenge and Energy.I believe focusing is my biggest strength even though I am good at speed. My job entails a lot of paperwork that needs focusing to get them completed and leaves no room for error, I prioritized and complete my tasks at work base on the most critical. The reason I believe my highest drive should have been Focus is that, at one point in my life, I was working two full-time jobs that demands attention to detail. I was able to complete task on time with limited or no mistakes, due to me paying attention to what I do.The self-assessment is interesting and has identify my weakness which I will be working on to get the scores high if not to get them all even.Casse, P.
