Two capacitors (disconnected from the power sources) with ca

Two capacitors (disconnected from the power sources) with capacitances C1 and C2 contain charges q1 and q2. What happens to the energy of these capacitors when they are connected in parallel? Discuss possible sources or drains of the excess energy. Find the conditions when the energy remains the same.Well I know that basically the energy of the final configuration must be less than the energy of the initial configuration due to losses on the wires, I just can not seem the work this out from ‘pencil’. Also I wonder if there really can be sources of final energy (not drains). And please, find the conditions for the energy to stay the same. I am a physicist not a college student, so please no crap answers. You really need to convince me.
